Toronto Centre By-Election Debate (November 13, 2013) Former Liberal leader Bob Rae's retirement triggered the by-election in the downtown riding of Toronto Centre. Justin Trudeau has recruited international economic journalist and author Chrystia Freeland as his star candidate, hoping to hold onto this Liberal stronghold of more than 25 years. But Thomas Mulcair's NDP is campaigning hard to win the riding with their candidate, high-profile journalist and author Linda McQuaig. The Conservatives are relying on lawyer Geoff Pollock, and representing the Green party is former journalist John Deverell.
