Daughters of the Vote Delegates Speak with Reporters
Several Daughters of the Vote delegates speak with reporters following the special session where each of the 338 seats in the House of Commons were filled with young women from the initiative. The delegates are asked about the protests that took place during the event. Several participants rose and turned their backs to Prime Minister Justin Trudeau during his speech, while some delegates also walked out during Conservative Leader Andrew Scheer's remarks. Maryam Monsef, the minister for women and gender equality, also speaks with reporters. Her department provided funding for the Daughters of the Vote project, which is organized by Equal Voice Canada with the goal of encouraging political participation by women.
