Energy, the Environment and Natural Resources Representatives from the National Energy Board and the Canadian Association of Petroleum Producers discuss the safety of Canadian pipelines. Their testimony launches the committee's study on the safety of hydrocarbon transportation in Canada. The first section of the study will focus on safety elements relating to transmission pipelines. Iain Colquhoun, NEB's chief engineer, and Patrick Smyth, a unit leader with the board, discuss how the agency regulates the safety of Canada's pipeline infrastructure. Greg Stringham and Dave Pryce, two vice-presidents with CAPP, present pipeline and marine transportation issues from an industry perspective, as well as an overview of some of the safety and integrity dimensions of the pipelines owned by their producing companies.
