2008 Memorial Service for Parliamentarians
The 9th annual memorial service honouring deceased parliamentarians was held in the Senate Chamber on May 12, 2008. Organized by the Canadian Association of Former Parliamentarians, the event also featured the presentation of the 10th Distinguished Service Award to Sheila Finestone, Liberal MP and Senator from 1984 to 2002. The award was accepted by Peter Finestone on behalf of his mother, who was unable to attend the ceremony.
