Ridings to Watch
St. Catharines
CPAC’s Laura DiBattista takes a look at the bellwether riding of St. Catharines, Ontario, a riding that has voted for the government since 1984. This industrial town in the Niagara region on the shores of Lake Ontario is home to the GM propulsion plant that employs nearly 700 and Brock University with an enrollment of nearly 19,000 students. Chris Bittle, the incumbent Liberal, is being challenged by Kristina Waler of the Conservatives and Dennis Van Meer, the UNIFOR local vice-president, is running for the NDP. Travis Mason, a letter carrier with Canada Post, is the Green Party candidate.
