From August 7-10, 2008, the 77^th Annual Couchiching conference was held in Orillia Ontario. Entitled "The Power of Knowledge:The New Global Currency," the conference examined the implications of the proliferation of knowledge.

The second session on August 8^th, entitled "Citizen Journalism or Amateur Hour?" featured Angus Frame (The Globe and Mail), Paul Sullivan (Sullivan Media) and Andrew Keen (author of "The Cult of the Amateur: How the Internet Is Killing Our Culture").
