L'Institut du Nouveau Monde
From August 13th to 15th, 2010, in Montreal, L'Institut du Nouveau Monde held its 7th edition of their Summer School for youth. This conference brought together more than 1,000 youth from across Quebec and around the world.
On August 13th, 2010, Chantal Robichaud (Secretariat of the Convention on Biological Diversity) delivered a speech on diversity.

79th Annual Couchiching Conference
The Couchiching Institute on Public Affairs held its 79th annual summer conference in Orillia, Ont., from August 5th to 8th. This year's theme was "Watershed Moment or Wasted Opportunity." Participants examined the global economic meltdown and how it has changed views on the economy, the role of the state, and public policy. On August 7th, 2010, the Right Honourable Paul Martin delivered a keynote address to the conference where he discussed the complexities of managing the economy.

79th Annual Couchiching Conference
The Couchiching Institute on Public Affairs held its 79th annual summer conference in Orillia, Ont., from August 5th to 8th. This year's theme was "Watershed Moment or Wasted Opportunity." Participants examined the global economic meltdown and how it has changed views on the economy, the role of the state, and public policy. On August 5th, 2010, writer and historian Margaret MacMillan delivered the opening keynote address.

The theme of this year's conference was "Guardians of Our Communities, from Local to Global." On August 23rd, former Governor of the Bank of Canada, David Dodge, gave a keynote address entitled "Guardians of Our Economies: the Fiscal and Economic Challenges Facing Governments".

On August 17th, 2010, Dick Pound (former Olympic athlete, member of the International Olympic Committee) addressed The Canadian Bar Association in Niagara Falls, Ont. His speech spoke to the importance of law when organizing an international event such as the Olympic games.

Canadian Medical Association
The Canadian Medical Association held its 143rd annual meeting from August 22nd to 25th, in Niagara Falls, Ontario. The theme of this year’s conference was “Change that Works. Care that Lasts”. The Honourable Diane Finley, Minister of Human Resources and Skills Development, addressed the general council on August 24th. In her speech, Minister Finley discussed the federal government's commitment to health promotion programs.
