From August 13^th to 15^th, 2010, in Montreal, L'Institut du Nouveau Monde held its 7^th edition of their Summer School for youth. This conference brought together more than 1,000 youth from across Quebec and around the world.
On August 13^th, 2010, Chantal Robichaud (Secretariat of the Convention on Biological Diversity) delivered a speech on diversity.

79^th Annual Couchiching Conference
The Couchiching Institute on Public Affairs held its 79^th annual summer conference in Orillia, Ont., from August 5^th to 8^th. This year's theme was "Watershed Moment or Wasted Opportunity." Participants examined the global economic meltdown and how it has changed views on the economy, the role of the state, and public policy. On August 7^th, 2010, the Right Honourable Paul Martin delivered a keynote address to the conference where he discussed the complexities of managing the economy.

On August 27^th, the Honourable Jack Layton, NDP Leader, outlined his vision for Canada's economy in a speech to the Rotary Club of Toronto.

79^th Annual Couchiching Conference
The Couchiching Institute on Public Affairs held its 79^th annual summer conference in Orillia, Ont., from August 5^th to 8^th. This year's theme was "Watershed Moment or Wasted Opportunity." Participants examined the global economic meltdown and how it has changed views on the economy, the role of the state, and public policy. On August 5^th, 2010, writer and historian Margaret MacMillan delivered the opening keynote address.

The Institute of Public Administration of Canada (IPAC) held its 62^nd National Annual Conference in Ottawa, from August 22^nd to 25^th. The theme of this year's conference was "Guardians of Our Communities, from Local to Global." Assembly of First Nations National Chief Shawn Atleo delivered a keynote address on August 24^th, 2010.

The Institute of Public Administration of Canada (IPAC) held its 62^nd National Annual Conference in Ottawa, from August 22^nd to 25^th. The theme of this year's conference was "Guardians of Our Communities, from Local to Global." On August 23^rd, former Governor of the Bank of Canada, David Dodge, gave a keynote address entitled "Guardians of Our Economies: the Fiscal and Economic Challenges Facing Governments".

The Canadian Bar Association
On August 17^th, 2010, Dick Pound (former Olympic athlete, member of the International Olympic Committee) addressed The Canadian Bar Association in Niagara Falls, Ont. His speech spoke to the importance of law when organizing an international event such as the Olympic games.

Canadian Medical Association
The Canadian Medical Association held its 143^rd annual meeting from August 22^nd to 25^th, in Niagara Falls, Ontario. The theme of this year’s conference was “Change that Works. Care that Lasts”. The Honourable Diane Finley, Minister of Human Resources and Skills Development, addressed the general council on August 24^th. In her speech, Minister Finley discussed the federal government's commitment to health promotion programs.

The Canadian Medical Association held its 143^rd annual meeting from August 22^nd to 25^th, 2010, in Niagara Falls, Ontario.
The theme of this year’s conference was “Change that Works. Care that Lasts”. On August 24^th, outgoing CMA President Anne Doig delivered her valedictory address to the conference.
