COVID-19 in Ontario: Premier Ford Announces Stage 2 of Reopening – June 8, 2020
In a news conference at Queen’s Park, Ontario Premier Doug Ford and provincial cabinet ministers Christine Elliott (health), Vic Fedeli (economic development), and Monte McNaughton (labour, training and skills development) provide an update on their government’s response to the ongoing COVID-19 (coronavirus disease) pandemic, including the start of stage two of Ontario’s plan for easing public-health measures. As of June 12, 2020, the maximum size of gatherings will be increased from five to ten everywhere in the province and places of worship will be allowed to reopen at reduced capacity. Restrictions on the operation of certain businesses will also be lifted in many areas of the province as of June 12, with shopping malls, restaurant patios, and certain personal care services among the establishments that will be allowed to reopen. Restrictions on those businesses will remain in place in some areas, including the Greater Toronto Area, Hamilton, Niagara, and Windsor. (no interpretation)
