Finance Minister Chrystia Freeland Announces COVID-19 Aid for Businesses
At a virtual news conference, Finance Minister Chrystia Freeland outlines the details of the new Canada Recovery Hiring Program, which will provide a subsidy of up to 50 per cent of salary for eligible businesses as they cope during the COVID-19 pandemic. The program will be retroactive to June 6 once Bill C-30, the government's legislation to implement measures proposed in the federal 2021 budget, receives royal assent. Freeland is joined by Mary Ng, the minister of small business, export promotion and international trade. They also discuss the proposed extension of other business support programs. (June 2, 2021)
