Human Rights - February 1, 2017
Senators begin their study on human rights of prisoners. Senior Correctional Service Canada officials Anne Kelly (senior deputy commissioner), Jennifer Wheatley (assistant commissioner of health services), Larry Motiuk (assistant commissioner of policy), and Kelley Blanchette (deputy commissioner for women) are the first witnesses. The committee then hears from Canadian Association of Elizabeth Fry Societies representatives Diana Majury (president) and Alia Pierini (regional advocate) and John Howard Society of Canada representatives Catherine Latimer (executive director) and Lawrence DaSilva (former federal prisoner).
