Annamie Paul, the newly elected leader of the Green Party of Canada, speaks with reporters on Parliament Hill. She is joined by Elizabeth May, the party’s former party leader and current parliamentary leader, and by Paul Manly, the Green MP for Nanaimo–Ladysmith, B.C. Paul won on the eighth ballot of the October 3, 2020, leadership announcement, defeating seven other rivals. She becomes the first Black woman, as well as the first Jewish woman, to lead a federal political party in Canada.
