Former NDP leader Ed Broadbent has passed away at age 87, according to a statement from the Broadbent Institute.

The NDP gained one net riding, reaching 25 seats and rising to 17.8% of the popular vote. There were gains in Edmonton Griesbach, Nanaimo—Ladysmith, and Port Moody—Coquitlam. But losses in Hamilton Mountain and St. John’s East.
Different parties have different rules. The NDP requires a review at every convention. Others only require a vote after a federal election when the party doesn’t form government.
Voters will use a ranked-choice ballot and list the candidates in their preferred order – at least one candidate must be selected. Mail-in or Internet voting is available.
