Summary
Based in Ottawa and reporting to the Executive Producer, CPAC is seeking a Social Media Producer to join our editorial team on a 6-month, full-time contract. The Social Media Producer is responsible for the selection, production, and creation of content for CPAC's social media platforms. Works with members of our programming and digital teams to identify subject matter that promotes and highlights CPAC's original programming.
Accountability
Works under the direction of the Executive Producer.
Duties and Responsibilities
- In accordance with CPAC's editorial priorities and principles: select, edit, package, post & optimize content for social media platforms;
- Monitor interviews and news sources to identify appropriate content for publication as digital-first video and/or social media posts;
- Research and write descriptions and other metadata for social media posts & captions;
- Work with the Executive Producer to ensure all editorial content meets CPAC's journalistic and technical standards;
- Track, compile, analyze & report on social media engagement metrics;
- Other duties as required.
Qualifications & Requirements
- A degree or diploma in journalism, TV production or related discipline plus two years of comparable/relevant media experience;
- A strong understanding of journalism practices and news broadcast standards;
- Fully bilingual in English and French (written & spoken);
- Advanced knowledge of social media & digital platforms;
- Excellent research, writing and editing skills;
- Ability to work to exacting standards & meet deadlines;
- Excellent organizational and time management skills;
- Ability to work flexible hours and weekends as required;
- Proven ability to increase online presence and social media offering;
- A keen interest in politics;
- Excellent interpersonal and communication skills;
- Independent, self-motivated, and versatile;
- Must upgrade technical skills as required;
- Understand group and interpersonal dynamics;
