Queen Elizabeth has died at age 96, ending a record 70-year reign as Canadian head of state.
Charles, formerly the Prince of Wales, automatically assumed the throne as new King of Canada and delivered his first televised address as sovereign.
His accession was formally proclaimed on Sept. 10 in both Canada and the United Kingdom.
The Queen's state funeral took place on Sept. 19 in London. A Canadian ceremony will also take place in Ottawa at approx. 1pm ET / 10am PT.

2002 Golden Jubilee: Ottawa
Queen Elizabeth and Prince Philip visited Ottawa to mark the Queen’s 50th anniversary on the throne. The Queen and Prince Philip visited the Tomb of the Unknown Soldier and attended events at the Canadian Museum of Civilization and Rideau Hall. Prime Minister Jean Chrétien and Governor General Adrienne Clarkson were among the attendees.
2010: Halifax
Queen Elizabeth and Prince Philip were welcomed at the start of their Royal Visit, the Queen's final tour of Canada. Prime Minister Stephen Harper, Governor General Michaëlle Jean, and Nova Scotia Premier Darrell Dexter made speeches, and the Queen herself made brief remarks. London hosted the Diamond Jubilee of Queen Elizabeth in June 2012. Highlights included the Thames Diamond Jubilee Pageant, the Service of Thanksgiving at St. Paul's Cathedral, and the formal carriage procession that immediately followed.
