Public Order Emergency Commission
Robert Bernier and Robert Drummond of the Ottawa Police Service are scheduled to testifyt at the Emergencies Act inquiry.
In the House
Prime Minister Justin Trudeau was in the chamber for question period.
Inflation was a central topic in the House of Commons following the Bank of Canada raising its benchmark interest rate by another 50 basis points to 3.75% in its continuing effort to control inflation.
According to the central bank:
"Economic growth in Canada is slowing, allowing supply to catch up with demand. Housing activity has fallen sharply from the exceptional peak recorded earlier this year. Household spending on goods is slowing, and firms’ plans for investment and hiring are softening. The slowdown in economic activity abroad, particularly in the United States, has also begun to weigh on exports. Over the projection, the weaker Canadian dollar is expected to offset some of the impact on exports coming from slowing foreign demand."

Meanwhile, the House rejected 266 to 44 a Bloc Québécois motion in support of severing ties with the monarchy:
That, given that, (i) Canada is a democratic state, (ii) this House believes in the principle of equality for all, the House express its desire to sever ties between the Canadian State and the British monarchy, and call on the government to take the actions necessary to do so.
Trudeau faced questions this morning on the Bloc motion:
