On Parliament Hill, representatives from the LGBT Purge Fund commemorate the 30th anniversary of their court challenge to the federal government’s policy of discrimination toward LGBT people in the public service. They discuss their report on the state of inclusion in the federal workplace and recommendations for improvement.
Taking part in the news conference are board members Michelle Douglas and Martine Roy, who were plaintiffs in the 2016 class-action lawsuit against the federal government, and their lawyer Doug Elliott.
WATCH: Senate agriculture committee releases report on B.C. floods
Members of the Senate agriculture committee hold a news conference on Parliament Hill to discuss the findings of their study on the impact of the floods that took place in British Columbia in 2021.
The committee also examined the response from the federal and provincial governments. Hearings on the study concluded in June 2022.
Speaking with reporters are Robert Black and Paula Simon, the chair and deputy chair of the committee.
B.C.'s Fraser Valley was hit by extreme flooding over several weeks in mid-November 2021 that caused extensive damage to the province's agriculture industry.
