Chrystia Freeland and Karina Gould Launch Liberal Leadership Bids

Justin Trudeau, the Liberal leader since 2013, announced on January 6, 2025, that he would be stepping down, setting in motion the race to replace him as party leader and prime minister. The leadership contest will run until March 9, 2025, when voting will be concluded and the results announced. (January 19, 2025)
