At Rideau Hall in Ottawa, Governor General Mary Simon presides over a swearing-in ceremony for Steven MacKinnon, the new minister of labour and seniors. Following the ceremony, Minister MacKinnon responds to questions from reporters.
The change to Prime Minister Justin Trudeau’s cabinet comes following the resignation of Seamus O’Regan. O’Regan, who has been the member of Parliament for St. John’s South–Mount Pearl, N.L,, since 2015, was first appointed to cabinet in 2017. O’Regan has said that he will stay on as an MP but will not seek re-election. (no interpretation)
