COVID-19: Canada Responds
PM Justin Trudeau Provides Update on COVID-19, Access to Vaccine
Standing outside his home, in Ottawa, Prime Minister Justin Trudeau briefs Canadians on the federal government’s response to the ongoing COVID-19 (coronavirus disease) pandemic. He then answers questions from the media about vaccination in Canada, which is slated for 2021 - much later than other countries. Mr. Trudeau says that unlike countries like the U.S., Great Britain and Germany, Canada no longer has domestic vaccine mass production capacity, adding that those countries will prioritize the vaccination of their own citizens over exporting doses around the world. The prime minister underscores that his government has invested in Canada’s pharmaceutical industry in order to restore domestic mass production of vaccines in the event of another pandemic.
