COVID-19: Manitoba Restricts Hospital Visits – December 21, 2020
In Winnipeg, Dr. Jazz Atwal, Manitoba’s acting deputy chief public health officer, and Lanette Siragusa, the province’s lead of health system integration and quality as well as chief nursing officer for Shared Health, provide an update on the province’s response to the ongoing COVID-19 (coronavirus disease) pandemic. They are joined via teleconference by Manitoba Health Minister Cameron Friesen. They announced updated guidelines for visitors in acute care centers. Patients may now be visited by only one essential caregiver to provide physical, psychological, or emotional support. Health authorities are trying to limit visits to a minimum, while there are currently 18 active COVID-19 outbreaks in Manitoba’s hospitals. (no interpretation)
