NWT COVID-19 Update: Fort Liard Under 14-Day Containment Order
In Yellowknife, Caroline Cochrane, the premier of the Northwest Territories, and Dr. Kami Kandola, the chief public health officer, announce Fort Liard is now under a 14-day containment order after 3 new cases of COVID-19 were confirmed in the community. The order closes all non-essential businesses, closes schools to in-person learning, and bans gatherings in a private home. The premier is joined by Dr. AnneMarie Pegg, the territorial medical director, Shane Thompson, the MLA for Nahendeh, as well as Julie Green, the minister of health and social services, who takes part in the briefing via teleconference.
