Ontario Accelerates Eligibility for Second Dose of COVID-19 Vaccine
In a news conference at Queen’s Park, Ontario Health Minister and Deputy Premier Christine Elliott provides an update on the province's COVID-19 vaccination plan. She is joined by Ontario Solicitor General Sylvia Jones. The health minister announces the province is accelerating the schedule for eligible people to book or rebook their second dose appointment at a shortened interval. Starting June 21, all Ontarians who received their first dose of an mRNA COVID-19 vaccine such as Pfizer or Moderna on or before May 9, 2021, will be eligible to book or rebook their second dose appointment. On June 23, individuals who received their first dose of an mRNA vaccine on or before May 30, 2021, and who live in one of 10 public health units identified as a hot spot for the spread of the Delta variant will be eligible to register. By June 28, all individuals aged 18 and over who have received their first dose of an mRNA COVID-19 vaccine will be eligible to book their second dose appointment. (June 17, 2021) (no interpretation)
