Quebec Premier François Legault Names New Indigenous Affairs Minister
Quebec Premier François Legault holds a news conference in Quebec City to announce changes to his cabinet. He is joined by Ian Lafrenière, the Member of National Assembly for Vachon. The premier appoints Lafrenière as the province's new minister responsible for Indigenous affairs. He replaces Sylvie D’Amours. The cabinet shuffle occurs in the wake of Joyce Echaquan's death in a hospital in Joliette. The Atikamekw woman recorded a video before her death that showed hospital staff making insulting comments about her. Legault also provides an update on the COVID-19 pandemic in the province.
