Bloc Leader Discusses Supply Management, Compensations for Farmers
On Parliament Hill, Bloc Québécois Leader Yves-François Blanchet speaks with reporting regarding Quebec’s agricultural system. He is joined by MP Yves Perron, the party’s critic on agriculture and supply management, as well as Marcel Groleau, the president of the Union des producteurs agricoles. They call for Bill C-216, which was introduced by Bloc MP Louis Plamondon, to be adopted in order to protect supply management in future commercial trade negotiations. They also ask for the federal government to pay the compensation that was promised to farmers who have been impacted financially after the signing of new trade deals.
