PM Trudeau Announces $14.9 B For Public Transit Projects – February 10, 2021
In a virtual news conference, Prime Minister Justin Trudeau announces the federal government will invest $14.9 billion for public transit projects over the next eight years. The investment includes permanent funding of $3 billion annually for Canadian communities beginning in 2026-27. The prime minister is joined by federal ministers Catherine McKenna (infrastructure and communities) and Jonathan Wilkinson (environment and climate change), as well as Tamara Vrooman, the chair of the Canada Infrastructure Bank, and Don Iveson, the mayor of Edmonton and chair of the Federation of Canadian Municipalities' (FCM) Big City Mayors' Caucus.
