Green Leader Annamie Paul Addresses Party Turmoil – June 16, 2021
At a news conference on Parliament Hill, Green Party Leader Annamie Paul discusses the vote that was held during the June 15 emergency meeting of the party's federal council. She criticizes efforts by a small group of councillors to remove her as leader as racist and sexist. The motion adopted by the council calls on the leader to repudiate the attacks made by her former senior adviser Noah Zatzman towards many politicians including caucus members, accusing them of discrimination and antisemitism, and to explicitly support the Green Party caucus. Otherwise, the council will hold a vote of non-confidence in the leader on July 20. The party has been in turmoil following Fredericton MP Jenica Atwin's defection to the Liberals on June 10.
