Alberta ministers Adriana LaGrange (health) and Searle Turton (children and family services) hold a news conference in Calgary to outline the ongoing investigation into an E. coli outbreak linked to several daycares in the city. There are currently 264 lab-confirmed cases of E. coli linked to the outbreak and 25 patients are undergoing care in hospital. Eleven child-care facilities in Calgary have been closed as the province continues its investigation into the outbreak, which is believed to have originated in a central kitchen used by the daycares. The ministers are joined by Dr. Mark Joffe (Alberta’s chief medical officer of health) and Dr. Tania Principi (section chief, Pediatric Emergency Medicine at the Alberta Children’s Hospital).
