Wait Times for Govt Services: Federal Ministers Provide Update
At a news conference in Ottawa, federal ministers provide an update on efforts to reduce wait times for government services, including the processing of passport and immigration applications. In June 2022, Prime Minister Justin Trudeau announced the creation of a task force of ministers aimed at addressing backlogs in the delivery of those services. In attendance at this news conference are ministers Marci Ien (women and gender equality and youth), Marc Miller (Crown-Indigenous relations), Karina Gould (families, children and social development), Omar Alghabra (transport), Sean Fraser (immigration, refugees and citizenship), and Marco Mendicino (public safety). While taking questions from reporters, the ministers comment on a recent incident in which Deputy Prime Minister Chrystia Freeland faced harassment and threats in Grande Prairie, Alta.
