In a virtual news conference, Dr. Theresa Tam, Canada’s chief public health officer, and Dr. Howard Njoo, the deputy chief public health officer, provide an update on the COVID-19 pandemic. Dr. Tam also comments on the two cases of monkeypox that have been confirmed in Canada. Several other suspected cases are under investigation. A growing number of countries are reporting outbreaks of the rare disease, which comes from the same family of viruses as smallpox.
