PM Trudeau Discusses Dental-Care Benefit for Children – December 1, 2022
Prime Minister Justin Trudeau holds a news conference in London, Ontario, to highlight the new dental-care benefit for children under the age of 12. Applications are now open for the benefit, which is the first phase of a national dental-care plan. Families with a net income under $90,000 and who do not have insurance are eligible to receive up to $650 per child per year. The prime minister responds to questions on calls to delay the expansion of assisted dying to include those with mental illness, reports of alleged Chinese interference in the 2019 Canadian federal election, and the state of the health-care system in Canada. He is joined by Karina Gould (federal minister of families, children and social development), Alan Shepard (president and vice-chancellor, West University), Dr. Lynn Tomkins (president, Canadian Dental Association), Peter Fragiskatos (Liberal MP, London North Centre) and Arielle Kayabaga (Liberal MP, London West).
