In Montreal, Prime Minister Justin Trudeau and Quebec Premier François Legault announce an agreement to help satellite operator Telesat build its broadband satellite network. Ottawa will loan the company $2.14 billion for the project, which the government says will enable better internet service in remote communities, with Quebec contributing $400 million. Telesat has contracted aerospace technology firm MDA to build the satellites.

Also taking part in the announcement are François-Philippe Champagne (federal minister of innovation, science, and industry), Christine Fréchette (Quebec minister of economy, innovation, and energy), Mike Greenley (CEO of MDA Space), Dan Goldberg (president and CEO of Telesat), and Paola Hawa (mayor of Sainte-Anne-de-Bellevue, Que.)
