AFN Calls for Inquiry into Systemic Racism in Policing – December 4, 2024

The Assembly of First Nations (AFN) calls on the federal government to launch a national inquiry into systemic racism in policing. The news conference takes place during the AFN Special Chiefs Assembly in Ottawa.

Speaking with reporters are National Chief Cindy Woodhouse Nepinak, Regional Chief Terry Teegee, Regional Chief Ghislain Picard, Anishinabek Nation Grand Council Chief Linda Debassige, and Nishnawbe Aski Nation Deputy Grand Chief Anna Betty Achneepineskum. Also speaking is Martha Martin, whose daughter Chantel Moore was killed by police in New Brunswick in June 2020. (no interpretation)
