Defence Minister Anita Anand announces the government is spending $1.4 billion to revitalize facilities at the Canadian military’s Dwyer Hill Training Centre in Ottawa. The 10-year construction project is designed to meet the needs of Joint Task Force 2, a special operations unit of the Canadian Armed Forces tasked with combatting terrorism. Also taking part in the news conference at National Defence headquarters in Ottawa are Mona Fortier, president of the Treasury Board and MP for Ottawa–Vanier, and Jenna Sudds, MP for Kanata–Carleton.
