Headline PoliticsElizabeth May Provides Update on Unredacted NSICOP Report – June 17, 2024

Green Party Leader Elizabeth May speaks with reporters on Parliament Hill to provide an update on her review of the unredacted report of the National Security and Intelligence Committee of Parliamentarians (NSICOP). She was the first opposition leader to read the full report during a briefing on June 11. May and NDP Leader Jagmeet Singh both have top security clearance that allowed them to read the unredacted version. The report alleges some parliamentarians “wittingly” aided foreign actors interfering in Canada’s domestic political affairs.

The Green leader also discusses the passage of her private member's bill to tackle environmental racism, which is awaiting royal assent. Bill C-226 mandates a national strategy to address and mitigate the impacts of environmental hazards in marginalized communities. May is joined by Green MP Mike Morrice. (no interpretation)
