At a news conference in Toronto, the Canadian Civil Liberties Association (CCLA) discusses the Federal Court’s ruling on the February 2022 invocation of the Emergencies Act. On January 23, the court ruled that the federal government’s decision to invoke the Act in order to clear convoy protesters was unreasonable and led to an infringement of Charter rights. The case was brought forward by the CCLA, the Canadian Constitution Foundation, and other groups and individuals.
