Finance Minister Chrystia Freeland holds a news conference on Parliament Hill to provide her weekly economic update.

She announces the payment amounts for the government’s carbon rebates for small- and medium-sized businesses, which will deliver over $2.5 billion to about 600,000 businesses before the end of the year. She also announces the government has finalized the list of Chinese steel and aluminum products that will be subject to a 25 per cent surtax.

Freeland is joined by ministers Jean-Yves Duclos (public services and procurement), Mary Ng (export promotion, international trade and economic development) and Rechie Valdez (small business).
