In Ottawa, Crown-Indigenous Relations Minister Gary Anandasangaree announces a settlement has been reached in a class action lawsuit over “Indian hospitals,” which were run by the federal government from 1936 to 1981. Plaintiffs in the case alleged the segregated health facilities offered substandard care and were rife with abuse.

Also speaking at the news conference are Ann Cecile Hardy, a representative plaintiff, Jonathan Ptak, a partner at Kosie Minsky LLP, and Solomon Reece, a councillor for the Key First Nation in Saskatchewan. (no interpretation)
