Steven MacKinnon, the minister of jobs and families, announces a federal investment of $67 million for ten projects to train more than 29,000 tradespeople in green skills as industries shift to low-carbon alternatives.
He is joined at the news conference in Ottawa by Mona Fortier (MP for Ottawa-Vanier), Stuart Simpson (training coordinator, Smart Local 47), Sean Strickland (executive director, Canada's Building Trades Unions), Jack Wall (director of Canadian Affairs, SMART Union) and Brent James (business manager, Local 47 Ottawa).
MacKinnon faces questions from reporters on Prime Minister Mark Carney’s personal financial assets and on the federal response to Chinese tariffs against Saskatchewan Canola farmers. (no interpretation)
