Minister Sean Fraser Provides a Housing Update – April 3, 2024

Housing Minister Sean Fraser holds a virtual news conference to provide an update on housing measures from the upcoming federal budget. He is joined by Soraya Martinez Ferrada, the minister responsible for the Economic Development Agency of Canada for the regions of Quebec.

The federal government's latest housing initiatives include a $15-billion top-up to its apartment construction loan program with the aim of building at least 30,000 new apartments. The government will also launch the Canada Builds partnership with provinces and territories to build more rental housing. Finance Minister Chrystia Freeland is scheduled to table her latest budget on April 16.
