On Parliament Hill in Ottawa, Prime Minister Mark Carney outlines the federal government’s response to the Trump administration’s latest round of tariffs. U.S. President Donald Trump confirmed on Wednesday that he would move forward with a 25 per cent tariff on imported vehicles on April 2.

On Wednesday evening, Carney temporarily paused his campaigning in the federal election to return to Ottawa to convene a meeting of the Cabinet Committee on Canada-U.S. Relations and National Security.

The prime minister announces that he will chair a meeting Canada’s provincial and territorial leaders on Friday to discuss a coordinated tariff response.

Carney faces questions from reporters on the government’s possible retaliatory measures to the latest U.S. trade action. (no interpretation)
