Headline PoliticsUnions Want More Compensation For Public Servants Still Affected by Phoenix

Three public service unions are calling on the government to provide additional damages and to extend the claims process for federal workers who continue to be affected by the Phoenix payroll system. Phoenix has caused significant compensation problems for workers since it was launched in 2016. Unions negotiated general damages settlements with the federal government in 2019 and 2020.

Chris Aylward (national president of the Public Service Alliance of Canada), Yvon Barrière (the Public Service Alliance of Canada’s regional executive vice-president for Quebec), Jennifer Carr (president of the Professional Institute of the Public Service of Canada), and Nathan Prier (president of the Canadian Association of Professional Employees) are making the demand as they mark the eighth anniversary of the government’s switch to the payroll system.
