Briefing From Immigration Minister Sean Fraser on Immigration Processing Times

Immigration, Refugees and Citizenship Minister Sean Fraser briefs the committee on processing delays for immigrant applications and backlogs caused by COVID-19.

He also speaks about the Liberal government's mandate and the steps taken to reduce processing times while also elaborating on the challenges faced by the immigration system.

Opposition MPs strongly criticize the minister for "lack of planning" in bringing Afghan refugees to Canada and demand "real transparency" from his department.

NDP MP Jenny Kwan asks the government to expedite permanent resident visas and the bridging of work permits to qualified internationally educated and licenced nurses and other health-care professionals.
