Leaders' TourJagmeet Singh Proposes Pledges to Increase Access to Family Doctors

At a campaign event in St. John’s, NDP Leader Jagmeet Singh pledges access to a family doctor for all Canadians by 2030. The plan proposes to create thousands more residency spots for foreign-trained doctors, train more physicians from small communities to practice in those regions, and cut down on administrative processes for medical professionals. The proposal would increase the Canada Health transfer funding by one per for provinces that pursue guaranteed access to physicians.

Singh is joined by Jack Harris, former NDP MP and Mary Shortall, NDP candidate St. John’s East. (April 5, 2025) (no interpretation)
