Mark Carney Announces Liberal Plan for Clean and Conventional Energy
Liberal Leader Mark Carney holds a campaign event in Calgary, where he discusses his party’s plan for conventional and clean energy, as well as critical mineral development. Under the plan, a new federal office will be established with the goal of reviewing and approval resource projects more rapidly.
Carney is joined by Jay Smart (business manager, Iron Workers Local 725), Sean Strickland (executive director, Canada's Building Trades Union) and George Chahal (Liberal candidate, Calgary McKnight).
The Liberal leader faces questions from reporters on foreign interference in light of Global news report that alleges that a group linked to Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi donated money to Conservative Leader Pierre Poilievre’s leadership campaign. Carney is also asked about his commitment to getting new oil and gas pipelines approved and built. (April 9, 2025)
