Pierre Poilievre Unveils Tariff Response Plan – April 2, 2025

Conservative Leader Pierre Poilievre delivers a speech in Toronto that advances his party’s plan for the Canadian economy in the face of an increasingly protectionist U.S administration.

He is introduced by Caroline Mulroney, Caroline Mulroney, Ontario’s minister of Francophone affairs and the daughter of former prime minister Brian Mulroney, as well as Melissa Lansman, Conservative candidate for Thornhill.

In the address, Poilievre proposes support for Canadian businesses impacted by U.S. tariffs and pledges an accelerated renegotiation of the CUSMA trade agreement.

Poilievre faces questions from reporters on whether he has made any efforts to build a relationship with the Trump administration in the United States. (no interpretation)
