Pierre Poilievre Vows to Cut GST on Canadian-Made Cars – April 3, 2025

At a campaign press conference in Kingston, Ont., Conservative Leader Pierre Poilievre announces that his government would remove the GST from the sale of new Canadian-made cars in response to U.S. President Donald Trump's tariffs on Canada's auto sector. He also says a Conservative government would create a "Keep Canadians Working Fund," which would provide businesses directly hit by American tariffs with temporary loans and credit to help keep Canadians employed.
