Calgary Centre and Calgary Skyview

Ridings to WatchCalgary Centre and Calgary Skyview

CPAC’s Ed Watson takes a look at the two lone ridings in Calgary that did not vote Conservative in 2015, Calgary Skyview and Calgary Centre. Pipeline politics, the debate over resource development and the unpopularity of Justin Trudeau figure to play prominent roles when voters in these two ridings go to cast their ballot. Kent Hehr, the Liberal in Calgary Centre, was a well-known provincial MLA before moving to the federal scene. Greg McLean, who was an investment officer in a private equity firm, is the Conservative. The New Democrat is Jessica Buresi and Thana Boonlert is the Green Party’s representative.

In Calgary Skyview, the Liberal Nirmala Naidoo takes over from Darshan Khan, who was removed from the Liberal caucus for sexually harassing an employee in his Calgary office. Naidoo is a former journalist now employed as an outreach director for the Alberta government. The Conservative is Jag Sahota, a lawyer, and Gurinder Singh Gill, an accountant, is the New Democrat.
