Jeopardy! has been a staple of the North American television diet for 29 years. One of the reasons for its longevity and appeal that transcends generations has been its host, Alex Trebek. Born and raised in Sudbury, Mr. Trebek began his career in Ottawa hosting television programs such as "Music Hop" and "Reach For The Top." He got his big break in 1973, when he went to New York and auditioned for the show Wizard of Odds for NBC.
Mr. Trebek never looked back, going on to host "High Rollers" and The "$128,000 Question." At one time, he hosted three programs at the same time: "To Tell The Truth", "Classic Concentration" and Jeopardy! Over the years, Mr. Trebek and Jeopardy! have racked up over 30 Emmy and Peabody awards. Mr. Trebek has also hosted the National Geographic Bee and World Championship and is actively involved in many charities including World Vision.
