The prime minister and ministers speak briefly with reporters on Parliament Hill before the federal cabinet holds its weekly meeting. Prime Minister Justin Trudeau as well as Ministers François-Philippe Champagne (innovation), Marc Miller (immigration), Sean Fraser (housing), Jonathan Wilkinson (natural resources) react to incoming U.S. President Donald Trump’s threat to impose 25 per cent tariffs on all products from Canada and Mexico on his first day in office.

Miller also comments on the recent protests in Montreal that coincided with the start of the NATO Parliamentary Assembly meeting.

Jean-Yves Duclos (public services) responds to questions on the ongoing Canada Post strike and on the government’s proposed plan to deliver $250 rebate cheques to all workers who earned less than $150,000 in 2023. (no interpretation)
