Advocates Press Canada for Stronger Action on Rohingya Crisis
On Parliament Hill, Canadian Rohingya advocates discuss their open letter to Prime Minister Justin Trudeau concerning Canada's response to the Rohingya refugee crisis. More than 100 Canadian academics, legal experts, and human rights groups have signed the letter, which criticizes Canada's response and the reluctance to designate the violence against the Rohingya ethnic minority as a genocide. The letter's signatories are calling on Canada to fulfill its obligation under the United Nation Genocide Convention and take action against Myanmar’s civilian and military leaders responsible for the violence.
